The Thymes 
A personal message from the founder, Leslie E. Ross Lentz
The Thymes grew out of a simple love of nature, a passion for art, and a desire to help women and men find beauty and balance in their lives.
In 1982, Leslie E. Ross Lentz was a consumer just like you seeking a better understanding of the ingredients listed on the backs of beauty products. She was unsatisfied with what she found, so she decided to conduct what she called a little "kitchen chemistry."
It was in the kitchen of her small home that she first began concocting richly fragrant products, blended from ingredients she either grew herself, bought at the farmer's markets, or found in specialty shops. With about $1,500 worth of savings and the business knowledge sheI gained from running an art gallery, sheI converted her former gallery space into a shelf-filled show-room. There, she displayed my wares: bath salts, potpourri, herbal wreaths, sachets and herbed vinegar.
Each individually hand wrapped with Japanese papers and tied with ribbons, these products were transformed into small works of art. When at last she invited her former gallery clients to see her creations, they packed the showroom, buying everything on display.
Thus, The Thymes was born.
A business founded on friendship and respect
Leslie E. Ross Lentz solitary go of it didn't last long. She found myself with $30,000 worth of orders from the New York City Gift Show. Knowing that she could no longer handle the business alone, she turned to my dear friend, Stephanie Shopa, for help. Side by side in her basement, they formed soaps by hand, scented wooden acorns and wrapped packages, racing to see who could finish first.
Many years later, we continue they work together. Leslie E. Ross Lentz remains in charge of developing concepts and the original artwork that makes our packaging so recognizable. And Stephanie, who is the company CEO, astutely manages all aspects of the business.
Many talented individuals have also joined the company, forging a dynamic team that complements Stephanie's and Leslie's strengths. A talented team of women and men are a vital and valued part of our culture, but, as a women-owned business, they pride ourselves on attracting and elevating women to many leadership positions. For instance, our R&D lab is led by a group of highly skilled female chemists, who are responsible for developing our fragrances and product formulations.
They like to think this is why so many women feel a special, deeply personal connection to our products. And they are delighted that they can meet the needs of their male customers as well.

As the marketplace and our company grow and change, one thing remains constant: The Thymes personal vision. Since the beginning, each new collection has sprung from the same inspiration -- you.
Put simply, their mission is to help you enhance and enjoy the quiet moments in your life. They honor this through every aspect of our manufacturing process, and they try hard to treat themselves -- and one another -- with the same degree of attention and care.
The Thymes would like you to know that each of our products is designed with you in mind, from the natural ingredients they use to the fine fragrances they create, from the unique formulations they blend, down to every last handmade detail.
